One of the questions I was asked to answer while completing my TED profile was about an idea worth spreading. Here is what I wrote:
‘Life is short. But long enough for you to make a difference. So take your time to look around, and learn as much as you can. Find out what makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning. Once you know, decide what you want to do about it. Make a plan, sleep on it. If you still think it’s a good plan when you wake up, take action. Don’t wait around for people to like your idea, or to give you permission. Get things started. No big gizmos, just whatever you have will do for now. Listen to advice, but listen even harder to your instincts. Choose your friends carefully, or learn to do without friends for now. Things will change. People will start liking your idea, you’ll get more resources and fancier tools. And if that doesn’t happen, that’s okay. You’ll have given birth to what you feel will make a difference. They might get it after you’re gone. Life is short.’
The time is now.
